"StartUp" is a series of podcasts by Alex Blumberg who has raised money from private investors and also from regular folks who want to invest in his new company called "Gimlet Media". Thru a company called AlphaWorks anyone can be an investor and have a little bit of ownership.
"99% Invisible" is a podcast by Roman Mars who has raised money using kickstarter to help fund a network called "Radiotopia" which will produce multiple podcasts. Wonder why Roman Mars didn't go the private investor route.. maybe there'll be a podcast about that :)
Two of my favorite podcasts "StartUp" and "99% Invisible" have raised money in two very different yet familiar ways to reach the same goal of funding their way of storytelling. Each of them provide very different content however their podcast style feels the same. Both reached out to their audience to raise money and both have the same advertisers (eh hem.. heard of mailchimp). Yet their business model is not the same. I wonder if one has ever considered to be in the other's network.
